Assistant General Manager – Gaithersburg

A growing, privately owned restaurant group is seeking an Assistant General Manager to join its leadership team in Gaithersburg, Maryland. This upscale casual concept combines a strong commitment to hospitality with well-defined systems and operational standards.

We are open to an experienced Assistant General Manager or a high-performing Restaurant Manager who is ready for the next step. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on restaurant leader who wants to develop their career with a company entering an exciting phase of growth and expansion.

This position requires 6–8 weeks of paid, out-of-market training. Candidates must be able to commit to the full training period. Housing and travel support will be provided.

What You’ll Do

• Lead day-to-day restaurant operations and help drive consistent execution
• Build, train, coach, and develop a strong restaurant team
• Create a culture of accountability, hospitality, and teamwork
• Ensure seamless communication and coordination between front- and back-of-house teams
• Deliver an exceptional guest experience in a high-volume environment
• Review P&L performance, labor, food costs, and other key operating metrics
• Identify opportunities to improve results and execute effective action plans
• Maintain company systems, standards, and operating procedures
• Support a culture of continuous improvement while developing future leaders

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of restaurant management experience
• Assistant General Manager experience preferred, although strong Restaurant Managers ready to advance will be considered
• Recent upscale casual, polished casual, or comparable full-service restaurant experience
• Experience in a high-volume restaurant environment; $7M+
• Scratch-kitchen experience
• Strong understanding of P&L management, labor, food cost, and operational controls
• Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and hold teams accountable
• Comfortable working within a highly structured, systems-oriented operation
• Hands-on leadership style with a strong commitment to hospitality and the guest experience
• Ability to complete 6–8 weeks of out-of-market training
