An established, integrated healthcare system in Central Illinois is seeking a full-time Hematologist/Oncologist to join and help lead the continued expansion of its oncology services in the Peoria market. This opportunity offers the ability to build a growing cancer program, collaborate with a robust multidisciplinary team, and play a key role in shaping the future of oncology care throughout the region. role and help drive program growth, physician recruitment, and strategic development.
Practice Highlights
General Hematology/Oncology practice with approximately 60–65% malignant oncology and 35–40% benign hematology
Opportunity to develop subspecialty interests, including breast, GU, prostate, and other disease-focused programs
Clinic-based practice featuring a mix of new consults, follow-ups, treatment management, and survivorship care
Inpatient consult volume averages 2–3 cases per day with strong hospitalist partnership
Technology & Oncology Resources
Comprehensive oncology infrastructure including onsite CT, MRI, PET/CT, pathology, infusion services, and radiation oncology
Weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards and access to 11 disease-specific virtual tumor boards across the system
Dedicated breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, and upper GI/GU navigators
Support from oncology pharmacists, registered nurses, dietitians, oncology social workers, and care coordinators
Access to clinical trials, survivorship programs, and genetic counseling services
Subspecialized pathology support and fellowship-trained surgical oncology partners
Accredited cancer program with CoC, NAPBC, and NAPRC recognition
Leadership Opportunity
The organization is prioritizing recruitment of an experienced physician interested in helping establish and grow the oncology program. Associate Medical Director responsibilities may include:
Recruitment and mentorship of future Hematology/Oncology physicians
Development of program growth strategies and service line expansion initiatives
Collaboration with APPs, specialists, and community providers
Regional outreach and physician relationship development
Representation of the oncology program through community engagement and marketing initiatives
Strategic partnership with independent providers and referring physicians throughout the region
