Full job description
Essential Job Functions
Clinical Support
Contributes to comprehensive patient assessments by collecting and documenting biological, psychological, social, and cultural information with enhanced accuracy and clinical awareness.
Prepares patients, equipment, and exam spaces for specialty procedures, ensuring readiness and adherence to clinical standards.
Supports preventive care activities, including screenings and health maintenance tasks, to promote patient wellness.
Independently recognizes and promptly reports abnormal findings to the appropriate provider or care team member.
Implements established clinical protocols based on the patient’s reason for visit, demonstrating sound judgment and workflow awareness.
Performs assigned clinical procedures independently after completing required training and demonstrating competency; may include 12lead EKGs, point of care testing, and select respiratory care procedures.
Maintains exam rooms by ensuring cleanliness, proper organization, and adequate supply levels to support efficient clinic operations.
Assists with specimen collection, labeling, processing, and routing in accordance with safety and quality standards.
Provides accurate, complete, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, ensuring all clinical information is recorded according to organizational and regulatory requirements.
Administers medications, including immunizations, oral medications, inhaled therapies, therapeutic injections, skin tests, and other treatment modalities, following established policies, medical assisting standards, and the rights of medication administration under provider direction.
Administrative Support
Performs appointment scheduling, check‑in/check‑out, and insurance verification with increased accuracy and independence.
Processes routine referrals, prior authorizations, and inbox messages following established workflows.
Manages incoming calls and patient messages using standard work and standing protocols with minimal guidance.
Navigates EMR functions confidently, including documentation, order entry support, and patient communication tools.
Assists with supply ordering and inventory maintenance to support clinic operations.
Safety & Compliance
Consistently follows regulatory standards and internal protocols.
Supports chart audits and readiness for inspections.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: Associate Degree in Medical Assisting
Experience:
Required:
- Two (2) years of experience in a clinical practice setting as a Medical Assistant Certified.
- An associate degree in medical assisting or related healthcare field may be substituted for one (1) year of required experience.
Participation in a clinical orientation, competency evaluation, and ability to pass a clinical skills assessment and medication administration test within ninety (90) days of hire, and within 3 attempts.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
Required: Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA)/Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required from one of the following: American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), American Allied Health - RMA(AAH), National Health career Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
