Full job description
Propelus® simplifies workforce compliance management across healthcare. Our innovative technology and strategic partnerships empower millions of professionals, their employers, and regulators to work together, creating a connected and efficient healthcare ecosystem.
As a trusted leader for over 20 years, Propelus has focused on bringing more good into the lives of the people and organizations serving healthcare. We deliver seamless compliance solutions to millions. We leverage market-leading technology and essential data to simplify complex operations, reduce risk, and champion a safer, healthier, and happier workforce.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be a hands-on technical leader who ships. Your main mission is to support the launch and post launch process of our React Native companion app. You'll work independently where it counts and alongside our web, API, and design teams to bring our compliance platform to mobile. You'll own features from end to end across a unified TypeScript stack, and you'll set the bar for quality, accessibility, and reliability along the way.
We have built a large-scale compliance platform for licensed professionals. It runs on a cloud-native monorepo with a unified TypeScript stack. We work in a regulated space, so ADA compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA) and solid engineering matter here in a concrete way: real people use this to keep their licenses and their jobs.
What You'll Do
Actively review and debug code, working in an AI first environment, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Ship full-stack features across accessible React UIs, type-safe APIs, and a GraphQL layer over several data stores, from first design to production.
Work side by side with the web application team to build out new features for both web and mobile.
Weigh architectural trade-offs and explain them clearly to both technical and non-technical people, so engineering decisions stay tied to business goals.
Stay accountable for what you ship. That includes instrumentation, handling incidents, and the analysis afterward.
Make the team better through careful code reviews, mentoring, and sharing what you know.
Improve how we deliver software: our testing frameworks, our CI/CD pipelines, and the tooling that gets in everyone's way when it's not right.
Support our teams across the organization, working cross functionally on multiple product lines, and pivoting when needed for success
We Would Like You To Have:
5+ years of real, full stack production experience, specifically with React, Node.js, JavaScript, SQL, TypeScript, and NoSQL.
Experience building in a modern cloud-native development, and modern CI/CD approach, and running the systems you build.
A strong system-design instincts, with a priority on reliability and scalability, understanding how things fail, and what a codebase feels like to maintain years later, and you build with that in mind.
Rapid discernment in reviewing quality AI code using Claude Code or Copilot and the ability to utilize these resources to expedite your workflow.
A track record of setting technical direction and mentoring engineers on a collaborative, asynchronous, distributed team.
Good judgment about when to pay down technical debt and when to keep shipping.
Experience building accessible web applications (WCAG 2.1 AA)
On seniority: the experience above usually adds up to something like 5 or more years building and running production systems. We care more about what you can do than the exact number.
It Would Be Great If You Had:
Experience with native mobile experience (iOS or Android) alongside React Native, focused on building and shipping mobile apps to the App Store and Google Play, and you can confidently navigate app review, release, and the messy weeks afterward.
Familiarity with our stack: oRPC/tRPC, Pulumi and Better Auth
Prior work in accessibility-critical or heavily regulated environments.
Comfort tuning data access across relational, NoSQL, and search systems.
What Success Looks Like In Your First Year
Our React Native companion app is live in the App Store and Google Play, and licensed professionals are actually using it.
The mobile app shares logic and types with our web platform instead of forking into a second codebase.
The app holds the same accessibility and reliability bar as everything else we ship.
The engineers around you do better mobile and full-stack work because of the patterns and reviews you put in place.
Technologies you'll use
Mobile: React Native (the companion app is a core part of this role)
Frontend: React 19, TanStack (Router, Query, Form), Tailwind CSS, Figma Design System, WCAG 2.1 AA
Backend: Fastify, TypeScript, oRPC, PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis
Cloud and infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, SQS, SES, S3, Fargate, RDS, Secrets Manager), Pulumi, GitHub Actions
Quality and operations: Vitest, Playwright, OpenTelemetry, Turborepo, pnpm
AI-assisted development: Claude Code, Copilot
If your experience is close but doesn't fulfill all requirements, please apply. We're building the best team in healthcare and are focused on hiring individuals with unique backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences to support us in doing good, what’s human, and making a difference.
