Program Assistant – Adult Day Health
Columbia, MD
Part Time Day Shift | $16.00/hour
Would you like to work in a rewarding environment with fantastic co-workers? This position is for you! You can make a difference by providing care to the individuals we serve in our community-based Day Program.
What You'll Do:
- Provide assistance in the daily care of health-impaired older adults or individuals in our care with brain injuries, intellectual/developmental disabilities, emotional or behavioral disabilities, or mental health diagnoses.
- Assist with the implementation of individual and group activity programs, and be responsible for the care, safety, security, and social/recreational activities for the individuals receiving support.
- Assist individuals with daily living, including personal hygiene, bathing, bathroom assistance, grooming, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Provide guidance with social skills, advocacy, and self-esteem, and teach strategies to live as independently as possible.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; must be 18 years of age or older
- Minimum one year of experience providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, preferably with older adults
- Proficiency in vital signs, weights, Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and independent ADLs
- Competence in CPR and First Aid
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills
- A reliable, responsible attitude and a compassionate approach
