JOB TITLE: CNC VTL MACHINIST
JOB SUMMARY: The CNC VTL Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating the CNC vertical turning lathes to produce complex precision aerospace components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to measure and verify tight tolerances using precision instruments. This role is essential for supporting our commitment to high-quality production and on-time delivery to our customers. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, and experienced in machine set up on vertical lathes, with vast technical and mechanical knowledge, takes extreme pride in their work and is customer focused.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set up and operate CNC VTL machines, including tooling, work holding, offsets and program validation, to perform operations on aerospace parts and components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Adjust feeds, speeds, tool paths and offsets to achieve optimal machining performance and surface finish.
- Calculate dimensions, tolerances, and machine parameters to achieve required part specifications.
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records in accordance with company and aerospace quality system requirements (AS9100).
- Monitor machine operation and adjust as necessary to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean, organized, and safe.
- Report nonconformances, tool wear conditions and process variations according to quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining issues and improve processes.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools and interpret inspection results.
- Knowledge of cutting speeds, feeds, and tooling selection.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Three - five years' experience running CNC VTL Machines.
- High School diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated math skills for shop calculations.
- Demonstrate training ability and be able to support internal customer needs.
- Accurately read engineering prints
- Lift up to 35 pounds and stand for an eight-hour shift.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and communication and be a team player.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Primary duties will be on the shop floor, working in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while performing manual work.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity in both hands.
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, stand, squat, bend, twist, and reach often.
- Exposure to various temperatures, noise and vibration from power equipment, dust, and fumes.
