Job Title: IT Director

Department: Information Technology

Location: Remote/Hybrid

Description of Role:

Gursey Schneider LLP is seeking an experienced IT Director to lead the firm’s technology operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, service delivery, and IT team. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring that the firm’s technology environment is secure, reliable, well-managed, and aligned with the needs of a growing professional services organization.

Reporting to the Director of Administration, the IT Director will provide day-to-day leadership of the IT function, establish clear ownership and accountability across the team, strengthen operational processes and documentation, and drive key infrastructure and technology initiatives.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical depth with demonstrated people leadership and the ability to operate effectively in a professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities:

IT Leadership & Operations

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the IT department, including infrastructure, systems administration, networking, service desk, and software development.
  • Establish priorities, assign ownership, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of projects and operational responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain effective IT policies, procedures, standards, documentation, and escalation processes.
  • Establish appropriate coverage, cross-training, and succession planning to reduce single points of failure within the IT function.
  • Manage IT vendors, consultants, service providers, contracts, and technology-related relationships.
  • Partner with firm leadership and department stakeholders to identify technology needs and translate them into practical solutions.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud

    • Oversee the firm’s Microsoft 365, Entra ID/Active Directory, Azure, VMware, server, storage, backup, and related infrastructure.
    • Provide oversight of the firm’s data center environment and technology infrastructure supporting multiple offices.
    • Lead efforts to modernize infrastructure and appropriately transition workloads and services to cloud-based platforms.
    • Ensure effective backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and infrastructure resilience.
    • Oversee network architecture and operations, including firewalls, switches, wireless infrastructure, connectivity, and remote access.
    • Maintain appropriate lifecycle management for servers, network equipment, endpoints, and other technology assets.
    • Cybersecurity

      • Provide leadership for the firm’s cybersecurity program and security operations.
      • Maintain appropriate security controls across endpoints, identity, email, networks, cloud services, and firm systems.
      • Oversee vulnerability management, patching, endpoint protection, access controls, security monitoring, incident response, and remediation.
      • Coordinate security assessments, penetration testing, cybersecurity insurance requirements, and other third-party security reviews.
      • Ensure technology practices appropriately protect confidential client and firm information and support applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
      • Service Delivery & End-User Technology

        • Ensure responsive, consistent, and professional IT support across all firm offices and remote employees.
        • Establish and monitor service desk standards, escalation procedures, and performance expectations.
        • Improve endpoint management, software deployment, patching, imaging, and device lifecycle processes.
        • Provide oversight and strategic direction for modern endpoint management, software deployment, and device-management technologies.
        • Identify recurring support issues and implement systemic solutions rather than relying on manual intervention.
        • Projects & Technology Strategy

          • Develop and maintain an IT roadmap aligned with the firm’s operational and strategic priorities.
          • Lead major technology initiatives from planning through implementation and stabilization.
          • Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations based on business value, security, reliability, cost, and supportability.
          • Establish stronger project-management discipline, including defined scope, ownership, timelines, dependencies, risks, and status reporting.
          • Work closely with firm leadership on technology modernization, automation, AI initiatives, application integrations, and process improvement.
          • Proactively identify and evaluate opportunities to use automation, AI, robotic process automation (RPA), integrations, and other emerging technologies to improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance the employee and client experience.
          • Partner with business leaders and the software development team to identify technology-enabled process improvements and translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions.
          • Team Leadership

            • Manage, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary IT team.
            • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, performance expectations, and accountability.
            • Conduct regular team and individual meetings and provide effective feedback and professional development.
            • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across infrastructure, service desk, development, and other technology functions.
            • Build sufficient redundancy and cross-training to ensure continuity of critical IT operations.

What Success Looks Like

The IT Director will bring stronger day-to-day leadership, structure, accountability, and strategic direction to the IT function while maintaining a highly reliable technology environment. Early priorities will include assessing the current infrastructure and team, strengthening documentation and cross-training, improving project execution, reducing key-person dependencies, formalizing disaster recovery and operational processes, and developing a clear technology roadmap for the firm. The successful IT Director will also bring a forward-looking approach to technology, proactively identifying opportunities to modernize how the firm operates through automation, AI, integration, and other emerging technologies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical issues effectively to nontechnical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience within an accounting firm or other professional services organization.
  • Experience supporting environments with significant confidentiality, security, and regulatory requirements.

  • Experience developing or improving disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, Microsoft, VMware, or comparable credentials.
