Work Environment

This full-time position is based onsite at our hospital facility located in Chula Vista, CA, a vibrant community known for its diverse population and supportive family values. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a consistent routine that benefits both staff and patients. Our clinic features state-of-the-art equipment and resources designed for children, creating a fun and engaging atmosphere where therapy feels less like a chore and more like play.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, developmentally appropriate care to children ranging from infancy to adolescence under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT).
• Implement individualized treatment plans based on each child’s needs, focusing on enhancing their strength, mobility, balance, coordination, and overall confidence.
• Utilize creative, play-based methodologies to motivate children during therapy sessions, making exercises enjoyable and effective.
• Document and monitor patient progress meticulously, collaborating closely with the supervising PT to adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Work effectively with families and caregivers, providing guidance on home exercises and reinforcing therapeutic goals.
• Contribute positively to our clinic's culture, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for children of all abilities.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will work primarily with a pediatric population, including children with a variety of developmental and physical challenges. This role emphasizes early intervention and aims to support children through critical growth phases. Expect to engage with children who may have specific conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delays, post-surgical rehabilitation, and more. The PTA’s role is crucial for building trust and motivating children to actively participate in their own recovery.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• A current license or eligibility for licensure as a PTA in the state of California.
• A strong collaborator with excellent communication skills, who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
• An energetic, patient, and adaptable individual who is prepared to meet each child at their developmental level and encourage their progress.

Preferred Experience

• While prior pediatric experience is ideal, we welcome new graduates who have completed pediatric clinical rotations.
• Familiarity with current pediatric therapy techniques, modalities, and play-based therapeutic practices.
• Experience in documenting patient care, treatment plans, and conducting progress assessments.
