Job Summary:  Provides acute, sub-acute and chronic medical care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner license.  Provides medical care to patients, in collaboration with the physicians.  Duties include but not limited to history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, venipuncture and injections, minor office procedures, patient counseling and education, and prescribing and adjusting medications and treatments.  Will collaborate with the management team when building the lung cancer screening program.

Essential Job Qualifications:

      1.   Education: A medical degree for Nurse Practitioner

      2.   Experience: Work experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.

      3.   Training/Certification: N/A

      4.   Licensure: NYS Nurse Practitioner license required

      Other:  Experience using an EMR system, EPIC preferred.  Strong verbal and written communications.  Ability to multi-task and work within a team environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Provide acute, subacute and chronic medical care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practitioner license.  Duties include but not limited to history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, venipuncture and injections, minor office procedures, patient counseling and education and prescribing and adjusting medications and treatments. Must possess excellent organizational, written and verbal skills. Must be able to think independently and use good judgment for situations that require initiative and ingenuity. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate tactfully and effectively with patients, employees and internal and external customers. Must be able to hire, train and manage employees effectively. Must be familiar with all medical procedures performed in the medical office and/or hospital. Must have a working knowledge of industry regulations. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, assignments, and deadlines simultaneously. Must possess problem solving skills and abilities. Must have exemplary customer service skills and train and manage staff to possess those skills. Must have basic knowledge of computers and able to implement an electronic health record, when available.

Ability to manage and work well with patients, co-workers, and management in a positive and cooperative manner. Must be detailed oriented Must be flexible with working hours to accommodate the needs of the facility, physicians and management.
