Work Environment

This position is based in a hospital setting, where PTA team members work closely with licensed Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care. The work schedule typically runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility needed to accommodate patient care demands and clinic workflows.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting licensed Physical Therapists in executing tailored treatment plans that focus on enhancing patient mobility, strength, and functionality.
  • Guiding patients through a series of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities designed to promote physical wellness and alleviate pain.
  • Educating patients about proper body mechanics, exercise techniques, and creating effective home exercise programs to support their recovery.
  • Administering therapeutic modalities, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, always under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
  • Monitoring and documenting patient progress meticulously, including observations of range of motion improvements, strength advancement, and overall functional gains.
  • Preparing treatment areas, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are organized and readily accessible for therapy sessions.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team comprising Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists to optimize overall patient care and enhance recovery outcomes.
  • Offering emotional support and encouragement, creating a positive environment that motivates patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
  • Upholding ethical and professional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting individual rights.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role as a PTA involves working closely with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, and various health conditions. This includes working with pediatric patients requiring developmental therapies, geriatric patients coping with mobility issues, and athletes seeking rehabilitation after sports injuries. Your approach will be tailored to meet each patient's unique needs, facilitating both physical recovery and emotional support.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position should possess the following essential qualifications:

  • An Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in human anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy interventions.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in applying therapeutic exercises and modalities under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.

Compensation and Benefits
