Position Overview

Pro Therapy Services is actively seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Toms River, New Jersey. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care and assisting in the execution of individualized therapeutic plans under the direction of licensed Physical Therapists. Work Environment

This position is based at our hospital facility in Toms River, NJ, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and other healthcare professionals. Our onsite environment emphasizes teamwork and open communication, enabling you to effectively contribute to patient care plans in a stimulating and supportive setting. The schedule for this role typically spans Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional adjustments to accommodate patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Physical Therapists with the implementation of patient-focused treatment plans designed to enhance mobility, strength, and overall physical function.
  • Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities customized to their recovery goals, ensuring safe and effective practices.
  • Educate patients and their families about proper body mechanics and at-home exercise regimens that complement therapy sessions.
  • Administer therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold applications, always under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists.
  • Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, including tracking improvements in range of motion and physical capabilities.
  • Prepare treatment areas and manage therapy equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is readily available for effective sessions.
  • Engage collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic care and optimal therapeutic outcomes.
  • Provide emotional encouragement and support to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, helping to foster a positive and motivating atmosphere.
  • Adhere to all professional standards, maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will work closely with a wide range of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological challenges, and various physical ailments. Regardless of age or condition, you will tailor your approach to meet each patient’s unique needs, enhancing their rehabilitation experience and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • A validated Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic modalities related to physical therapy.
  • Proficiency in applying therapeutic exercises and patient-care modalities as directed.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling effective rapport building with patients and teamwork with healthcare providers.
  • A compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, reflecting a genuine commitment to helping others achieve their rehabilitation goals.
  • Ability to adapt to various patient conditions, demonstrating versatility in treatment plan execution.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience assisting in rehabilitative settings is preferred, but new graduates from accredited PTA programs are encouraged to apply.
