Full job description

The Course Assistant position for PGTE 5251, CRN 2853: Critical Computation Lecture, taught by Katherine Moriwaki and Xin Xin, will support the CC Lecture provides a critical approach to thinking and working with technology by introducing programming concepts within a social and historical context. Through an intersectional feminist lens, the course unpacks design biases embedded in pervasive technology while pointing towards examples of expressive, critical, and community-centric ways of working with technology.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Critical Computation instructors in a non-instructional support capacity.

  • Record, edit, and share CC Lectures on a weekly basis 

  • Reconcile attendance sign in sheets with the official student roster

  • Assist with preparing and/or maintaining instructional space as needed 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Provide a bulleted list of the minimum qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position. All qualifications must comply with applicable state and Federal legislation. Acceptable qualifications include:

  • Current student in the MFA Design & Technology program

  • Strong academic standing 

  • Familiarity with operating audio and video recording equipment. 

  • Demonstrated ability to record, edit, and process audio/video files. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High level of reliability, punctuality, and professional responsibility

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge of audio/video equipment 

  • Significant prior experience as a videographer or other related role

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-DNI

Hourly Rate$25.13

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between SENS-UAW, Local 7902 and the University.
