Surpass Rehabilitation Center in Herkimer, New York is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled full-time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic rehabilitation team. Work Environment

This is an onsite position located within our hospital facility, allowing the PTA to engage directly with patients in a supportive and well-equipped environment. Work hours are scheduled Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, ensuring a balanced work-life dynamic while delivering essential rehabilitation services.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with licensed physical therapists to develop and implement tailored treatment programs for patients.
• Provide hands-on therapy, including exercises and modalities, under strict supervision to improve patient functionalities.
• Educate patients and their families on continuing treatment protocols, including exercises and at-home care to support recovery.
• Accurately monitor and document patient progress during therapy sessions using our electronic health record system, ensuring all records reflect current patient statuses.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team, sharing insights and observations to create a comprehensive care plan addressing all facets of patient health.
• Utilize advanced techniques such as trigger point therapy when appropriate to alleviate pain and enhance mobility.
• Participate in occupational health programs to promote wellness and preventive care initiatives within the facility.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will engage with a diverse array of patients, focusing on those recovering from surgery, injury, or debilitating conditions that impact their ability to perform daily activities. Our patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric, providing a unique opportunity to work with various conditions and rehabilitation needs.

Qualifications

• A valid and active state PTA license is required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or related field is mandatory.
• 2 years of practical experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is essential.

• Proficiency in manual therapy techniques, including hands-on care and exercise regimens.
• Demonstrated ability to provide empathetic and effective patient care.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
