Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.

• Travel experience is required.

• Experience with Epic is required.

• Trauma Level 1 experience is preferred.

• BSN completion preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Virginia license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Declinations not accepted.

• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 12 months cannot be submitted.

• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:

Required Credentials: Any hit on your license must be disclosed. Hits will be sent to UVA leadership for approval prior to proceeding.

Preferred Skills/Experience: Teaching hospital experience is preferred.

Special Requests: Travelers are not eligible to return after reaching 365 total assignment days, regardless of time away. Can approve 40 hours of time off.

Unit Details: Adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient population. The unit primarily serves general surgery and trauma patients. Post-surgical patients make up 90% of the unit, and the remaining 10% have medical diagnoses. Services include trauma, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, ENT, and plastic surgery. All rooms support cardiac monitoring, capnography or end-tidal CO2 monitoring, and continuous pulse oximetry. All monitored patients are covered by monitor technicians at a central monitoring unit. An IV team and phlebotomy services are available; IV and phlebotomy expertise is not necessary. An inpatient wound care team provides strong WOC RN support 7 days a week for wound vac and ostomy needs.

Shift & Scheduling: Flexible contract hours: 36 or 48 per week. Every other weekend, every other holiday. Must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays.

Floating Requirements: May float to other acute care units per UVA float policy.
