Surpass Rehabilitation Center is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a full-time position located in Ithaca, New York. This role is essential in providing high-quality therapeutic services under the direction and supervision of licensed physical therapists. Work Environment

The successful candidate will work onsite at our comprehensive hospital facility in Ithaca, a community renowned for its supportive healthcare environment. The role operates under a Monday to Friday schedule from 9am to 5pm, allowing for work-life balance while ensuring our patients receive continual care. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed physical therapists in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations.
  • Deliver hands-on therapeutic interventions such as manual therapy, exercise prescription, and assistive device training, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Educate patients and their families on appropriate exercises, therapeutic modalities, and lifestyle modifications to support recovery and promote wellness.
  • Regularly monitor and document patient progress, modifying treatment plans based on patient response and recovery milestones.
  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, including doctors, occupational therapists, and nursing staff, to coordinate comprehensive care tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Employ advanced techniques, including trigger point therapy, to address pain management and enhance functional mobility.
  • Participate in occupational health initiatives, contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will work with a broad patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, chronic pain conditions, and neurological disorders. Qualifications

  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (or equivalent) is required.
  • Current and active Physical Therapist Assistant state license.

Compensation and Benefits
