Work Environment

This position is based at our outpatient office, where you will work closely with other healthcare professionals, including licensed physical therapists, administrative staff, and medical assistants. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing treatment plans established by the supervising licensed Physical Therapist, ensuring alignment with patient-specific goals.
  • Evaluate patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary, seeking approval from the referring physician when required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system, including treatment sessions, patient interactions, and progress updates.
  • Conduct thorough chart reviews to assist physical therapists in interpreting patient evaluations and adjusting therapeutic interventions accordingly.
  • Provide education and instruction to patients, their families, and nursing staff regarding exercise techniques, home care programs, and rehabilitation strategies to facilitate a smooth transition from therapy.
  • Employ safety protocols and demonstrate proficiency in various therapeutic modalities, ensuring a risk-free environment for patients and staff alike.
  • Identify and communicate any patient care issues that may influence rehabilitation outcomes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Facilitate a collaborative environment by participating in team meetings and contributing insights regarding patient care and clinic operations.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with patients undergoing orthopedic rehabilitation, including those recovering from surgeries, sports injuries, and musculoskeletal conditions. Your expertise in exercise therapy, manual therapy, and patient education will be vital in helping individuals regain strength, mobility, and independence. The volume of patients you can expect to see is approximately 1-2 per hour, ensuring you can provide personalized, focused care.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
  • Possession of a current and active Physical Therapist Assistant license issued by the state of New Jersey.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective communication, enabling positive interactions with patients, families, and a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
