Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team in a full-time capacity at our San Francisco hospital facility. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct physical therapy services under the supervision of licensed physical therapists, following established treatment plans to ensure quality care.
- Conduct assessments of patient conditions to direct and modify physical therapy interventions, ensuring alignment with the therapeutic approach.
- Implement therapeutic exercises and modalities that focus on pain relief, functional restoration, and performance enhancement, utilizing tools such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and manual therapy techniques.
- Guide patients through both active and passive exercises while monitoring their progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate patients on proper usage and care of assistive devices like wheelchairs, crutches, and orthotic/prosthetic devices, ensuring their safety and independence.
- Maintain thorough records, documenting clinical notes and any observed changes in patient conditions in compliance with organizational standards.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and in-service education sessions to contribute to professional development and enhance team collaboration.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives, helping to elevate care standards within the organization.
- Complete additional duties as assigned to support the clinical team and organization’s goals.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This position primarily involves working with a diverse patient population, including individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions. You will be instrumental in developing individualized treatment plans that cater to the varying rehabilitation needs of these patients, ensuring they receive compassionate and effective care tailored to their specific situations.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Active certification or license as mandated by California state law.
- Current CPR certification to ensure the safety and readiness for emergency situations.
- A valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle that meets state and organization requirements.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a physical therapy setting, ideally in a hospital or acute care environment.
