Diagnostic Automotive Technician | $30–$55/HR | No Weekends

Location: Upper Arlington, OH
Schedule: Monday–Friday | No weekends
Pay Rate: $30–$55 per flagged hour
Location Requirement: Must live within 30 miles of the job location
Pay Type: Flat Rate
Pay Schedule: Twice Monthly (5th & 20th)
Typical Flagged Hours: Approximately 40 per week

About the Shop

The shop is seeking an experienced Diagnostic Automotive Technician in Upper Arlington, OH, with strong electrical, drivability, and complex mechanical diagnostic skills. This flat-rate position pays $30–$55 per flagged hour, with approximately 40 flagged hours per week. The technician will service Domestic, Asian, and European vehicles in a climate-controlled, 5-bay shop with dedicated support staff and no weekend schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose advanced automotive electrical and drivability concerns.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical problems across Domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.
  • Perform engine and transmission removal and replacement.
  • Complete timing chain and head gasket repairs.
  • Perform Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVI) and document vehicle findings.
  • Build repair orders with labor times and parts information.
  • Mentor and support developing automotive technicians.
  • Use Autel and Snap-on diagnostic equipment to support accurate vehicle diagnostics.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience.
  • Strong automotive diagnostics, electrical, and drivability skills.
  • Experience performing complex mechanical repairs.
  • Engine and transmission replacement experience.
  • Timing chain and head gasket repair experience.
  • Ability to mentor developing technicians.
  • ASE Certifications, previous Lead Technician or Diagnostic Technician experience, and Tekmetric or DVI experience preferred; DVI training is available.
