Position Overview
Surpass Rehabilitation Center, located in the vibrant Bronx, New York, is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated healthcare team on a full-time basis. This role is essential in implementing high-quality physical therapy interventions that enhance patient rehabilitation and mobility under the guidance of licensed physical therapists. Work Environment

Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in the implementation and execution of personalized treatment plans that align with patient needs and goals.
- Provide hands-on therapy sessions, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and manual therapies to enhance patient mobility.
- Monitor and document patient progress during and after therapy sessions, updating therapists on developments or challenges encountered.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, home care programs, and lifestyle modifications that complement rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to patient care, leveraging insights from various specialists.
- Utilize advanced techniques, such as trigger point therapy, to address specific pain areas as guided by therapists.
- Promote occupational health initiatives within the facility to create a safer and healthier environment for staff and patients alike.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our outpatient services cater to a diverse patient population, including children, adults, and the elderly, each with unique rehabilitation needs. The PTA will work with patients recovering from surgeries, managing chronic illnesses, and achieving post-injury rehabilitation goals. A key aspect of this role is developing trusting relationships with patients, where empathy and effective communication are paramount to motivating individuals through their rehabilitation journey.
Qualifications
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
- Active PTA state license is required for practice.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a PTA in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in manual therapy techniques and evidence-based care practices.
Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
