Surpass Rehabilitation Center, located in the vibrant Bronx, New York, is actively seeking a compassionate and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dedicated healthcare team on a full-time basis. Work Environment

The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, offering a stable work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in the implementation and execution of personalized treatment plans that align with patient needs and goals.
• Provide hands-on therapy sessions, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and manual therapies to enhance patient mobility.
• Monitor and document patient progress during and after therapy sessions, updating therapists on developments or challenges encountered.
• Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, home care programs, and lifestyle modifications that complement rehabilitation.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive, multidisciplinary approaches to patient care, leveraging insights from various specialists.
• Utilize advanced techniques, such as trigger point therapy, to address specific pain areas as guided by therapists.
• Promote occupational health initiatives within the facility to create a safer and healthier environment for staff and patients alike.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our outpatient services cater to a diverse patient population, including children, adults, and the elderly, each with unique rehabilitation needs. The PTA will work with patients recovering from surgeries, managing chronic illnesses, and achieving post-injury rehabilitation goals. A key aspect of this role is developing trusting relationships with patients, where empathy and effective communication are paramount to motivating individuals through their rehabilitation journey.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy Assistant from an accredited institution.
• Active PTA state license is required for practice.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a PTA in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Demonstrated proficiency in manual therapy techniques and evidence-based care practices.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working in a hospital rehabilitation setting preferred, with familiarity in orthopedic, neurological, and geriatric therapy.
• Previous experience in using electronic health records (EHR) for documentation of patient care.
• Ability to participate in quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient care.

Compensation and Benefits
