Key Responsibilities
As a Pediatric Physical Therapist Assistant, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Assisting licensed Physical Therapists in the implementation of individualized treatment plans designed for pediatric patients.
- Providing hands-on therapeutic interventions, which may include guiding children through exercises, mobility training, and strength-building activities.
- Monitoring and documenting patient progress by recording observations during sessions and reporting updates to supervising therapists.
- Engaging with families to educate them about ongoing therapeutic processes, including offering home exercise programs and strategies to continue their child's development outside of therapy sessions.
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date patient records following company protocols and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborating effectively with the therapy team and other healthcare professionals, ensuring each child receives comprehensive care that addresses all their needs.
- Offering motivational support to patients throughout their therapy journey, which helps foster a positive, encouraging environment for personal growth.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role focuses primarily on pediatrics, catering to children at various developmental stages and with diverse physical challenges. You will work with children recovering from injuries, surgeries, or those with developmental delays and other conditions that affect mobility and physical health. The unique challenges and triumphs experienced by this patient population require a compassionate, adaptive, and engaging approach to therapy.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- An earned Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Nevada.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children and their families, as well as the rest of the therapy team.
- A genuine passion for working with children and making a positive impact on their lives through physical therapy.
- Ability to thrive both independently and as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of two years of experience in a physical therapy setting is required, those with prior experience in pediatric therapy will be given preference. A background in applying evidence-based practices in pediatric rehabilitation will be considered an asset, as will familiarity with therapeutic modalities specific to this client population.
