Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifications: (a) minimum of two (2) years of post-technical-school radiology work experience; or (b) minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Special Procedures Technologist. Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifications: (a) successful completion of on-the-job training within six (6) months of hire; or (b) six (6) months’ recent experience (within the past two (2) years) as a Special Procedures Technologist. IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump) is required.
Preferred Skills/Experience: Interventional radiology (IR) experience is preferred.
Required Credentials: If you have RCIS, state license is not required. Graduation from a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology Program is required. Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Applicants must be high school graduates or hold a GED.
Unit Details: Interventional radiology procedures include diagnostic and interventional peripheral procedures/venograms, including aortagrams of the lower extremity, upper extremity, and visceral vessels; carotid procedures; and AV fistula procedures. Other interventional peripheral procedures/venograms include embolization, IVC filters, lytics, dialysis, Quinton catheters, TIPS, PICCs, and biopsies. Nonvascular procedures include drains, G/J tubes, kidney tubes, and THC biliary procedures. The role performs and assists with invasive procedures in the Cardiovascular Procedural Area (CVPA), including scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters. The role includes assisting with diagnostic and interventional procedures and operating radiologic and interventional equipment to support image quality and patient safety. The role includes acquiring, processing, and transferring images. The role includes documenting supplies, implants, and other regulatory components related to each exam. The role includes preparing, positioning, transferring, and assisting patients during procedures, as well as providing procedure-specific patient education. The role includes applying radiation-safety principles, including shielding, minimizing exposure, and using protective equipment for patients and staff. The role includes room, table, and sterile-tray setup and turnover. The role includes assisting physicians with contrast-media administration for arterial, venous, and percutaneous procedures. The role includes assisting and scrubbing with vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists in the operating room as needed. The role includes maintaining department inventory, completing equipment safety checks and inspections, performing preventive maintenance, reporting equipment malfunctions, and cleaning interventional equipment. Lead apron use is required.
Shift & Scheduling: Start times are 07a-330p, 08a-430p, or 09a-530p. On-call is required in rotation for nights, weekends, and holidays.
