Position Overview
Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team at our facility in San Diego, California. This full-time, onsite position requires an individual who is passionate about delivering high-quality care in a collaborative environment. As a PTA, you will play a crucial role in assisting patients on their path to recovery by implementing treatment plans under the direction of licensed physical therapists, ultimately contributing to improved patient outcomes.

Work Environment
Located in a state-of-the-art hospital facility in the vibrant city of San Diego, you will work closely with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals, collaborating with physicians, nurses, and the rehabilitation team. This onsite role offers a structured work schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to accommodate patient needs. Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Ensign Physical Therapy, you will:
- Provide direct care to patients, executing treatment plans established by physical therapists to help alleviate pain, restore function, and achieve optimal performance.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, including active and passive mobility techniques, gait training, and functional retraining to support their recovery.
- Utilize various physical agents such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation to enhance treatment effectiveness.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment, report findings, and document changes in patient conditions to ensure seamless communication with the physical therapy team.
- Educate patients and their families on the proper use and care of mobility aids such as wheelchairs, braces, and prosthetic devices.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure timely documentation of notes into patient charts.
- Engage in professional development programs, including interdisciplinary education initiatives to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to performance improvement teams to elevate the quality of care provided across the organization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the clinic.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will primarily work with a diverse patient population that includes individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions, as well as those undergoing rehabilitation for mobility challenges. You will support patients of all ages and backgrounds, tailoring your approach to meet their unique needs. Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a related field from an accredited program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- A current certification or license as a Physical Therapist Assistant as required by California state law.
- Active CPR certification to ensure patient safety during treatment.
- A valid driver’s license with a reliable, insured vehicle for potential off-site patient care.
Preferred Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is preferred, with demonstrated success in providing patient-centered care within a hospital setting. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems or clinical documentation tools is a plus, enhancing efficiency in patient record-keeping.
