Medical Surgical Float Pool - Travel Registered Nurse- $1890 per week.

Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.

• Experience with Cerner is required.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >60 miles from facility to be submitted.

• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• 6 months gap required between for Staff at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB and no current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Baptist Health UAB.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience - First-time travelers accepted with a minimum of 18 months of Med/Surg and/or ICU experience plus Epic or Cerner experience. If experience is strictly ICU, Cerner is required. - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience. - Required skills across float units include wound care, chest tubes, NGT/PEG tubes, IV skills/IV starts, blood draws from central lines, trach care, colostomy/ostomy care, surgical site care, C-collars, abdominal binders, restraints, PCA pumps, medication administration/documentation, escalations, drains, foleys, and CVL dressing changes.

Preferred Skills/Experience - Chemo experience highly preferred but not required.

Special Requests - You can only have 1 active application for the same position (same unit & shift at the same facility). Example: if you apply for day shift, you can also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit & facility. - Must be gone from the facility for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from last shift worked to start date. - Holiday time off is not contractually guaranteed prior to arrival. - Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding blackout dates; blackout dates require NM/Eanh approval. - Blackout dates during this assignment: Halloween 10/30-11/2; Thanksgiving 11/26-30; Christmas and New Year’s 12/21-1/1.

Unit Details - Typically 1:4 ratio; with lower ratios, RNs are expected to turn patients and assist with baths and ADLs. - Float pool coverage includes trauma/surgical, neuroscience, Med/Surg/oncology, orthopedics, and MS/ortho/urology patient populations, including general and vascular surgeries; CVA, TBI, seizure, AMS, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma, and angiogram patients; oncology, palliative care, and ETOH withdrawal; joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies; and urology/ENT cases. - Telemetry is monitored by telemetry techs; RNs must interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours. - On the Med/Surg/Oncology unit, chemo administration is performed if certified. - Equipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.

Shift & Scheduling - Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. - 4-week schedule cycle; no self-scheduling, uses Smart Square.

Floating Requirements - Floating to like units/patient locations: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds; ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds.

7 days maximum time off.
