The Orthopedic unit at Shift Gears is a vibrant and patient-centered environment, designed to facilitate healing and recovery. You will be working onsite in a hospital setting, ensuring that you have access to the resources and support required to provide top-notch care. Our team typically operates Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm, ensuring a balanced work-life experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of individualized treatment plans designed by licensed Physical Therapists, ensuring adherence to best practice protocols.
- Deliver hands-on therapy through therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and other modalities, adapting to the changing needs of patients to optimize their recovery.
- Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, making appropriate adjustments to treatment plans as necessary, based on the findings and feedback from both patients and supervising therapists.
- Educate patients on effective exercise techniques, ensuring they understand the importance of adherence to their prescribed rehabilitation programs.
- Foster collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure holistic patient care.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, contributing to continuity of care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will work primarily with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries and injuries, including but not limited to joint replacements, fractures, and soft tissue repairs. You will encounter a diverse range of patient backgrounds and needs, offering you the opportunity to tailor your approach based on individual circumstances. Your contributions directly impact their recovery process and overall quality of life.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (or equivalent education) is required.
- Possession of a currently active PTA state license is essential for performing in this role.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience specifically in orthopedic settings is necessary.
- Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is crucial for effective patient care.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and professional patient care, maintaining a warm and supportive environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that enable effective interaction with both patients and members of the healthcare team.
Preferred Experience
While a minimum of two years in orthopedic care is the baseline requirement, experience with post-operative rehabilitation protocols and familiarity with patient management software will be considered advantageous. Compensation and Benefits
