Work Environment

This full-time position is based in our state-of-the-art hospital facility located in Portsmouth, Virginia. As part of our collaborative healthcare team, you will work on-site, directly engaging with patients in both individual and group settings. The work schedule consists of 8-hour shifts from Monday through Friday, allowing for a stable work-life balance while engaging in meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will:

  • Execute treatment plans designed by the supervising Physical Therapist, which may include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, neuromuscular rehabilitation, and sport-specific training programs.
  • Monitor patients’ responses to treatment and adjust interventions as necessary to meet their clinical needs and goals effectively.
  • Educate patients on the use of therapeutic equipment and activities aimed at improving mobility and functionality.
  • Document patient care plans, treatment outcomes, and billing information accurately, ensuring timely sign-offs from the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Communicate any patient concerns or progress effectively to the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring a seamless treatment experience.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and therapists, providing emotional support and guidance throughout their rehabilitation journey.
  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, contributing to a well-rounded therapy practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our patient population at Precision Meridian Health consists of individuals recovering from surgeries, sports injuries, and chronic conditions, as well as those needing specialized support during oncology treatment. You will play a crucial role in enhancing each patient’s quality of life and functional abilities through targeted physical therapy interventions.

Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates must possess:

  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • At least one year of relevant experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • A valid license to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Virginia.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following experience is highly valued:

  • Experience in oncology rehabilitation or working with cancer patients.
  • Certification as a Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) or a willingness to obtain such certification.

Compensation and Benefits
