Position Overview
Surpass Rehabilitation Center is actively seeking a motivated and compassionate full-time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to enhance our dynamic healthcare team. Work Environment
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Surpass Rehabilitation Center, you will work onsite in a bustling hospital setting where collaboration and communication are key. The work schedule consists of weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM, providing a structured routine that allows for focused patient interaction in a supportive team environment. You will be interacting with a diverse group of healthcare professionals, including physical therapists, physicians, and nursing staff, all committed to delivering superior care.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting physical therapists in executing therapy programs tailored to individual patient needs, which may include therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques.
- Providing hands-on care through modalities and therapeutic interventions under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist.
- Educating patients and their families on rehabilitation exercises and home programs to enhance compliance and recovery outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of patient progress and response to treatments during therapy sessions.
- Collaborating closely with the healthcare team to develop and adjust treatment plans in response to patient progress and feedback.
- Implementing trigger point therapy techniques as appropriate to alleviate pain and improve muscle function.
- Contributing to the occupational health initiatives that support the well-being of the facility staff and the broader community.
Patient Population / Client Focus
In this role, you will engage with a culturally diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric individuals. Patients will present with a variety of conditions requiring rehabilitation, including post-surgical recovery, sports injuries, neurological disorders, and chronic pain. Your empathetic approach will be vital in addressing the unique needs and concerns of each patient, helping them regain their independence and improve their quality of life.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or an equivalent program.
- A current and valid PTA state license to practice in New York.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a clinical or hospital environment.
- Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Proficient in manual therapy techniques and skilled in using rehabilitation equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with patients and families.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with additional certifications in specialized therapeutic techniques such as aquatic therapy, or experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems to document patient care, will be prioritized. Compensation and Benefits
