Work Environment

As a PTA at our Richmond location, you will work onsite in a collaborative hospital environment. The facility fosters a multidisciplinary approach, encouraging teamwork with Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. Our typical schedule runs Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexible hours as needed to accommodate patient demands and ensure continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physical Therapist in delivering personalized treatment plans aimed at improving patient mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
  • Facilitate therapeutic exercises and activities tailored to each patient, guiding them in safe, effective techniques to enhance their rehabilitation process.
  • Educate patients on body mechanics, exercise strategies, and home exercises that support their recovery journey.
  • Under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, apply modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy to aid in treatment.
  • Document patient progress meticulously, tracking improvements in range of motion, strength, and functional abilities to ensure the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring all equipment and supplies are readily available and functional for therapy sessions.
  • Engage with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and share insights that optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide emotional support and motivation to patients, fostering a positive and encouraging rehabilitation environment.
  • Adhere to all ethical and professional standards, maintaining patient confidentiality and respecting individual rights.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will involve working with a diverse patient population that includes post-operative individuals, seniors needing mobility assistance, athletes rehabilitating after injuries, and children with developmental challenges. Each patient will present unique needs, requiring a tailored approach to treatment and rehabilitation.

Qualifications

  • An Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current and valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and various therapeutic interventions related to physical therapy.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement prescribed therapeutic exercises and modalities under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective rapport building with patients and collaboration with the healthcare team.

Compensation and Benefits
