Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Experience:
• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.
• 18 months of Medical Surgical Float Pool experience.
• Experience with Cerner is preferred.
• Experience with Epic is preferred.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a Alabama license or compact license (required after submission).
• This role will require floating to multiple units
• Travel only, local not allowed. Candidates must live >65 miles from facility to be submitted.
• Flu vaccination required for submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.
• Anyone who worked as Staff at a facility in this program in the last 6 months cannot be submitted.
• Anyone currently working at a facility in this program cannot be submitted.

Additional Details:
Required Skills/Experience: - First-time travelers are accepted with at least 18 months of Med-Surg experience and Epic or Cerner experience. - At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience is required for 6 North Trauma Surgical assignments. - Required skills for 6 North Trauma Surgical assignments include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation and escalation skills. - Required skills for 5 South Neuroscience assignments include IV starts, blood draws from central lines, tracheostomy care, PEG and NGT care, colostomy/ostomy care, wound care, chest tubes, surgical-site care, C-collars, abdominal binders and restraints. - Required skills for 5 North MedSurg/Oncology assignments include tracheostomy care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, Foley catheters and IV starts. - Required skills for 3 South Orthopedics assignments include use of PCA pumps, wound care with negative-pressure dressings, dressing changes, Foley care and hemovac/JP drains. - Required skills for 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology assignments include tracheostomy care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts and CVL dressing changes.
Preferred Skills/Experience: - Chemo experience is highly preferred.
Special Requests: - Only 1 active application is allowed for the same position (same unit and shift at the same facility). If you apply for day shift, you may also apply for night shift on the same unit and facility, but you cannot apply for another day shift position on the same unit and facility. - You must include a proof of address document to apply. The document must be in your name and match the address on your profile. Accepted documents are a lease or mortgage agreement, utility bill, vehicle registration or property tax forms; other documents will not be accepted. - Staff must be away for 6 months before returning as a traveler, measured from the last shift worked to the start date. - Parking is limited to the 2nd through 4th levels of the parking deck. - Holiday scheduling is not automatic, but time off for the one major and one minor seasonal holidays is not contractually guaranteed before arrival. - Listed Baptist 2025 blackout RTO dates are Martin Luther King Jr. Day (1/19-20); Valentine’s Day week (2/13-16); the entire month of March; Easter Weekend (4/18-20); Mother’s Day Weekend (5/10-12); Memorial Day week (5/24-5/26); Father’s Day Weekend (6/14-16); Fourth of July (7/3-6); Labor Day weekend (8/30-9/1); Halloween (10/30-11/2); Thanksgiving (11/26-30); and Christmas and New Year’s (12/21-1/1).
Unit Details: - 6 North Trauma Surgical cares for general surgery and vascular surgery patients. - 5 South Neuroscience patient populations and cases include CVA, TBI, seizures, altered mental status, spinal fusion, craniotomy, degenerative diseases, post-trauma care and angiograms. - 5 North MedSurg/Oncology patient types include all patient types except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal and Med-Surg/oncology patients. - The 5 North MedSurg/Oncology patient ratio is 1:6 for RNs and LPNs. - 4 South Clinical Decision Unit cares for general Med-Surg patients, including COPD, CHF, diabetes, MRSA, VRE, C-Diff, COVID, pneumonia, renal failure, sepsis, UTI and end-of-life comfort. - The 3 South Orthopedics population includes orthopedic and spine patients with joint replacements, fractures, fusions, laminectomies and other orthopedic or spine cases. - The 3 South Orthopedics patient ratio is 1:5, or 1:6 for Med-Surg patients. - 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology cares for urology, ENT, orthopedic and Med-Surg patients. - Procedures and care across the float assignments include tracheotomy care, suctioning, oxygen therapy, ostomy care, Foley and external catheter care, PEG/NGT care and use, wound care, chest tubes, central-line care, pressure-ulcer management and prevention, fall-prevention management and restraints. - On 5 North MedSurg/Oncology, chemotherapy administration is performed if certified. - Telemetry is monitored on hallway monitors and by telemetry technicians on the ground floor. RNs must interpret and confirm telemetry strip readings every 4 hours. - Equipment and systems include Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing and Spacelabs monitors.
Shift & Scheduling: - Weekend rotation is every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month. - No call. - Holiday expectations include one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy.
Floating Requirements: - Floating may include any like unit/patient location: MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task or limit of 3, and ICU-ER/ICU holds.
10 days maximum time off.
