Work Environment

The work schedule primarily includes Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required to meet patient needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physical therapists to implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific needs and recovery goals.
  • Deliver direct patient care, including administering pain relief therapies, developing or restoring physical function, and enhancing patients' overall performance in daily activities.
  • Guide patients through both active and passive therapeutic exercises, providing instruction on muscle reeducation, gait training, and the safe use of assistive devices.
  • Employ physical agents such as heat, cold, and ultrasound as part of treatment methodologies to optimize recovery outcomes.
  • Closely observe and document patients' reactions to treatments, promptly reporting changes to supervising physical therapists.
  • Educate patients in the proper care and utilization of mobility aids including wheelchairs, braces, crutches, and other orthotic devices.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical notes and ensure all documentation complies with established protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training, attending in-service programs to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to quality assessment performance improvement teams to enhance service delivery and therapeutic outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve patients experiencing recovery from surgical procedures, chronic illnesses, and injuries. By employing a comprehensive approach to their rehabilitation, you will play a crucial role in not only alleviating pain but also significantly enhancing overall functional mobility and independence.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program, recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.
  • Current state certification or licensure to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • Active CPR certification, ensuring the ability to respond quickly to medical emergencies.
  • A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle that meets insurance requirements for safe patient transport, as some roles may involve traveling between locations.

Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of experience in a physical therapy setting is required, candidates with additional backgrounds in hospital rehabilitation services or working with diverse patient populations will be highly regarded.
