Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in conducting evaluations and clinical assessments for patients, ensuring a respectful and compassionate approach throughout the process.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs by modifying therapeutic exercises and activities as advised by Physical Therapists.
  • Instruct patients and their families in therapeutic exercises, providing clear guidance and support during sessions to foster independence and confidence.
  • Employ various therapeutic modalities, such as heat therapy, cold therapy, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation, to alleviate pain and enhance functional mobility.
  • Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, including treatment responses, adapting interventions as necessary, and contributing to the overall care plan through effective communication with the therapy team.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and treatment logs in accordance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards, ensuring that documentation is accurate, thorough, and readily accessible.
  • Engage in ongoing communication with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless continuum of care, facilitating interdisciplinary discussions regarding patient needs and outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In your role as a PTA, you will work with a diverse group of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, stroke victims, and individuals with chronic pain or mobility-related challenges. Your compassionate approach will significantly impact their rehabilitation journey, enhancing their recovery and promoting better functional outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited educational institution.
  • Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in New Jersey.
  • Demonstrated understanding of physical therapy principles and practices relevant to patient care.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of building rapport with patients and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
