Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Physical Therapist Assistant to join our passionate team in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Work Environment

The Physical Therapist Assistant will engage directly with patients in a vibrant hospital setting. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some flexibility needed to accommodate patient schedules and needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing quality physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, following individualized care plans designed for each patient.
  • Administer treatments to alleviate pain, enhance physical function, and restore mobility through various therapeutic exercises, muscle reeducation, and activity training.
  • Guide and support patients in both active and passive therapeutic exercises, focusing on muscle strength, flexibility, and endurance improvement.
  • Utilize various physical agents—including heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation—to prepare patients for therapy and enhance treatment efficacy.
  • Monitor patient progress, document treatment responses, and communicate changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist to ensure optimal care delivery.
  • Instruct patients on the proper usage and care of mobility aids and assistive devices such as wheelchairs, crutches, and orthotic devices.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records and progress notes, ensuring timely documentation that adheres to organizational standards.
  • Participate in continuing education programs and quality assurance initiatives to enhance clinical knowledge and improve service delivery.
  • Engage in various professional development opportunities to remain updated with the latest in therapeutic practices and improve care standards.
  • Perform other duties as required to support operational needs and enhance team effectiveness.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily involves working with a diverse population of patients recovering from surgeries, injuries, or managing chronic conditions. You will be providing therapy in a hospital setting, which often includes acute care patients requiring immediate rehabilitation services post-operation or trauma. You will also facilitate outpatient therapies for those transitioning into less intensive rehabilitation programs, partnering closely with the healthcare team to provide holistic care.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in an acute care or rehabilitation setting.
  • Current state licensure and certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
  • CPR certification is mandatory, demonstrating preparedness for emergency situations.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable automobile that meets state insurance requirements for travel between patient locations.

Preferred Experience
