Position Overview
Rockford Therapy Solutions is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our passionate and dynamic rehabilitation team at our hospital facility in Paterson, New Jersey. Work Environment
The PTA will work onsite in a hospital setting, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals. The schedule for this position typically runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to meet patient needs and ensure optimal clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Physical Therapists in designing and implementing individualized treatment plans for patients, focusing on improving their mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
- Guide patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities aimed at fostering physical well-being and alleviating pain.
- Educate patients on proper body mechanics and exercise techniques, providing them with home exercise programs to support their recovery.
- Administer therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound therapy, and heat/cold applications as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, including tracking improvements in range of motion, strength, and functional gains.
- Prepare treatment areas by ensuring that therapy equipment and supplies are organized and accessible for each session.
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation journey, promoting a positive healing environment.
- Maintain ethical and professional standards of care, respecting patient confidentiality at all times.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The PTA will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological conditions, sports injuries, and age-related physical challenges. The role requires adaptability to meet the varying needs of patients across different age groups and backgrounds, focusing on personalized care that aligns with each individual’s recovery goals.
Qualifications
- Completed an Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Possess a valid New Jersey state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Demonstrate a strong foundational knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy principles.
- Exhibit proficiency in applying therapeutic techniques and modalities as guided by the Physical Therapist.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate closely with the healthcare team.

- Detail-oriented with robust organizational and time management skills sufficient for managing multiple patient cases simultaneously.
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in a physical therapy setting, preferably in a hospital or outpatient rehabilitation environment.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems to facilitate accurate documentation and tracking of patient progress.
- Background in specializing in one or more areas of rehabilitation, such as sports therapy or pediatric therapy, can be advantageous.
Compensation and Benefits
