Position Overview
Gateway Physical Therapy is actively seeking a dedicated and proficient Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our esteemed team in Torrance, California. This full-time, onsite position offers an exciting opportunity to provide impactful rehabilitation services to diverse patient populations within a hospital environment. As a PTA, you will play an integral role in promoting patient mobility, strength, and recovery by closely collaborating with our licensed Physical Therapists.

Work Environment
The role of PTA will take place in a dynamic hospital setting, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and resources that support effective patient care. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, fostering a collaborative culture aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes. Our working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional flexibility to meet patient needs and clinic operations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Physical Therapist Assistant at Gateway Physical Therapy, you will:
- Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs, focusing on mobility enhancement and functional recovery.
- Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities designed to promote physical wellness and alleviate pain.
- Educate patients on best practices for body mechanics, exercise techniques, and home exercise programs to ensure continued improvement beyond clinic hours.
- Administer various therapeutic modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, under the supervision of licensed Physical Therapists.
- Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, including noting improvements in range of motion, strength, and overall functionality.
- Prepare treatment areas efficiently, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are organized and ready for each session.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care by sharing insights and updates on patient progress.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement, creating a positive and motivating environment that inspires patients on their journey to recovery.
- Adhere to ethical standards in practice, ensuring patient confidentiality and the protection of their rights and privacy.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will engage with a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, those who require orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, pediatric, and post-surgical rehabilitation. As you tailor your approach to match the specific conditions and needs of the patients, you will be instrumental in enhancing their recovery experiences and quality of life.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
- A valid California Physical Therapist Assistant license or certification is essential.
- Strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions pertinent to physical therapy.
- Ability to proficiently implement therapeutic exercises and modalities under a Physical Therapist’s guidance.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with patients and the healthcare team.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
