Position Overview
Join our dedicated team at Life Mission Nursing and Rehab as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Sherman Oaks, California. Work Environment
This position is onsite at our hospital facility located in Sherman Oaks. Our state-of-the-art facility offers a collaborative environment with a strong focus on therapy and rehabilitation. You will work alongside skilled physical therapists and a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, sharing a commitment to delivering high-quality care and facilitating the recovery process for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Patient Treatment: Collaborate with physical therapists in delivering contemporary treatment plans, which include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and the application of physical modalities as directed to meet patient needs.
- Patient Monitoring: Continuously observe patients during therapy sessions to assess their progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on responses and individual recovery trajectories.
- Patient Education: Inform patients about their conditions, offer guidance on the importance of exercise, and demonstrate proper techniques to enhance their home therapy regimen and overall rehabilitation efforts.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, detailing treatments provided, progress made, and any concerns, ensuring compliance with all legal and organizational standards regarding patient care.
- Assist in Patient Mobility: Safely assist patients with transfers and mobility challenges, ensuring they are comfortable and secure during rehabilitation exercises.
- Maintain Equipment: Regularly inspect and clean therapeutic equipment, ensuring everything is in optimal working condition and ready for patient use.
- Collaborate with Therapists and Staff: Work effectively within the healthcare team to develop individualized rehabilitation plans that foster recovery, emphasizing patient collaboration and input.
- Provide Administrative Support: Handle clinic administrative duties, such as scheduling appointments, managing patient intake, and assisting as needed to ensure clinic operations run smoothly.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and chronic conditions, focusing on strategies that enhance mobility, strength, and overall physical function. Our patient-centered approach emphasizes individualized care, ensuring we meet the specific needs and goals of every patient.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current and valid Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of California or eligibility to obtain.
- Strong understanding of therapeutic exercises and principles of orthopedic rehabilitation.
- Ability to perform physical therapy procedures as outlined by supervising physical therapists.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective interactions with patients, families, and team members.
- Demonstrated commitment to a strong work ethic and high-quality patient care.
- Able to function autonomously while also being a team player within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant, particularly in an orthopedic or outpatient environment.
- Familiarity and experience with advanced therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to ultrasound and electrical stimulation.
Compensation and Benefits
