Work Environment
This position is based onsite at our hospital facility in Hampton, Virginia. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct physical therapy services under the guidance of a licensed physical therapist, adhering to established treatment plans and protocols.
- Administer therapeutic exercises and modalities to alleviate pain, improve mobility, and enhance physical function, ensuring patients are directed properly in both active and passive exercises.
- Effectively perform gait training, functional training, and assist with activities of daily living, using various therapeutic techniques tailored to individual patient needs.
- Utilize physical agents such as heat, cold, and electrical modalities (e.g., ultrasound) to aid in rehabilitation and recovery, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Closely monitor patient responses to treatment and communicate any significant findings or changes in condition to the supervising physical therapist and healthcare team.
- Instruct patients on the safe use of assistive devices, including canes, crutches, and wheelchairs, facilitating their independence in mobility.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation and patient records, including conference notes and daily progress updates.
- Engage in continuous learning by participating in interdisciplinary meetings and in-service education programs to promote personal and professional growth.
- Contribute to quality assessment and performance improvement initiatives within the organization.
- Perform other responsibilities as necessary to support the clinic's operational needs and patient care objectives.
Patient Population / Client Focus
Our Physical Therapist Assistants work with a variety of patient demographics, including individuals recovering from surgery, injury, or chronic illnesses. You will engage with patients of all ages, adapting treatment methodologies to address their unique rehabilitation goals. Qualifications
- A graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program, holding either an Associate's degree in science or applied science recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association, Inc.
