Key Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing treatment plans as delegated by the supervising Physical Therapist (PT) to meet specific patient needs.
• Utilize effective communication skills to educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, mobility strategies, and progressions.
• Document patient care activities accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with facility policies and state regulations.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control protocols and standard precautions during all patient interactions.
• Engage with patients in physical therapy sessions, utilizing various modalities and therapeutic exercises tailored to individual recovery goals.
• Participate in ongoing education and training programs to remain current on best practices within the field of physical therapy.
• Foster professional growth by seeking mentorship opportunities and leadership training provided by the organization.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with a diverse population of patients, predominantly the elderly, who require rehabilitation following medical procedures, injuries, or chronic conditions. Your ability to connect with patients and offering empathetic support is vital to their recovery process. You will play a critical role in restoring their independence and improving their overall health outcomes through effective physical therapy interventions.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of physical therapy assistant program, holding an Associate's Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Active and unrestricted Physical Therapist Assistant license as required by the state of Virginia.
• Ability to provide care in accordance with state and federal guidelines, including a commitment to ethical and compassionate patient care.
• A genuine passion for assisting the elderly and a strong desire to contribute positively to their rehabilitation journey.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working in a skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation setting is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using technology to document patient interactions, including familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
