Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team at Senior Flex Therapy Center, located in Oakland, California. This full-time position offers the opportunity to work onsite in a hospital environment, where you will collaborate with therapists and healthcare professionals to deliver essential rehabilitation services to a diverse patient population.

Work Environment
As a PTA at our hospital facility, you will work within a collaborative environment that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and mutual support. The facility operates from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, providing a structured schedule with opportunities for professional development and collaboration among different therapy disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to therapy protocols.
- Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in therapeutic exercises, educating them about their treatment goals and the importance of each activity.
- Accurately document patient responses and progress in our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system to ensure compliance and quality of care.
- Prepare therapy areas and equipment, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and order to ensure efficiency during treatment sessions.
- Monitor and assure patient safety during therapy sessions, being vigilant and responsive to any changes in condition or needs during exercises.
- Foster a motivating and positive atmosphere that encourages patient engagement in their recovery journey while building trust and rapport.
- Maintain open lines of communication with the supervising PT and other members of the clinical team to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will work with a diverse patient population, including seniors and individuals recovering from surgeries or injuries. Our focus is on rebuilding strength, restoring motion, and facilitating comprehensive recovery plans tailored to each patient's unique circumstances and capabilities.
Qualifications
- A valid Physical Therapist Assistant License from the state of California is required.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and graduation from an accredited PTA program are essential.
- Certification in CPR/BLS is preferred to ensure a safe environment for all patients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for effectively interacting with patients and team members.
- A strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented hospital setting, adapting quickly to dynamic patient needs.
Preferred Experience
- Previous outpatient experience is preferred, but recent graduates are encouraged to apply and will receive mentorship from our experienced physical therapists.
- Demonstrated ability to develop patient rapport and a passion for helping individuals regain mobility and strength will set candidates apart.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
