Work Environment

Located in the vibrant city of Portsmouth, our hospital setting provides a stimulating work environment that supports teamwork and innovation. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will engage in hands-on, patient-focused care in a state-of-the-art healthcare facility. The normal working hours are from Monday to Friday, allowing for work-life balance while actively contributing to patient recovery.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Assist in implementing selected components of patient care and treatment interventions as recommended by physical therapists, ensuring technical competence in each task.
• Guide and counsel patients in performing exercises designed to enhance mobility and physical capabilities, which may include strength training and functional exercises.
• Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients, recognizing individual differences and tailoring care accordingly.
• Evaluate patient progress, making recommendations for adjustments to treatment plans to optimize effectiveness and safety.
• Utilize the latest research findings in physical rehabilitation to support evidence-based practices that aim at restoring function and preventing injuries.
• Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all patient interactions and treatment provided, supporting the continuity of care.
• Gather and analyze data pertaining to patient performance and outcomes, contributing to overall treatment strategies.
• Adhere to ethical standards and legal regulations within the healthcare setting to ensure the highest quality of care.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with advancements in physical therapy practice.

Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily work with patients recovering from various medical conditions that impede mobility. This includes individuals recovering from surgeries, injuries, and chronic conditions requiring rehabilitative strategies to enhance functional performance and quality of life.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy Assisting or a related field.
• A valid license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Virginia.
• Strong knowledge of human physiology and best practices in rehabilitation medicine.
• Effective communication skills to instruct patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in patient documentation and healthcare administration.

Preferred Experience

While proven experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is preferred, we welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds who demonstrate a commitment to patient care. Hands-on experience with therapeutic exercises, functional training, and an understanding of physical modalities will be advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 50,000 to 60,000 per year. Additional benefits include:
