Work Environment

This full-time position requires a presence at our hospital facility in Poughkeepsie, where you will engage directly with patients in a dynamic orthopedic clinic. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art therapy tools and equipment, including resistance bands, therapy balls, and hydrotherapy systems, essential for providing comprehensive rehabilitation services. The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for predictable working hours and work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed Physical Therapists in developing and executing individualized treatment plans for patients recovering from orthopedic injuries or surgeries.
  • Conduct hands-on therapy sessions, utilizing various manual techniques and therapeutic exercises to enhance patients' strength and range of motion.
  • Monitor and document patient progress diligently, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans based on observed improvements or challenges.
  • Educate patients and their families on proper exercise regimens and self-care techniques to be practiced at home.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team—comprising physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists—to ensure integrated care for patients.
  • Maintain meticulous and accurate patient records in line with legal and regulatory standards, ensuring continuity in therapy and care coordination.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest developments in physical therapy practices and technology.

Patient Population / Client Focus

As a Physical Therapist Assistant in our Orthopedic unit, you will primarily work with adult patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries such as joint replacements, ligament repairs, and fractures. Your role is critical in motivating and guiding patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals, fostering a supportive atmosphere that aids in their physical and emotional recovery.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a related field.
  • Current and active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) state license.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 50,000 – 70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
