Work Environment

This position is based onsite at our state-of-the-art hospital facility in Yonkers, New York. You will be working closely with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. Our clinic operates in a vibrant, patient-centered atmosphere that fosters collaboration and continuous learning. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility required to meet patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist Physical Therapists in implementing customized treatment plans focusing on enhancing patients' mobility, strength, and overall functional capacity.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and techniques designed to facilitate recovery and alleviate pain, ensuring they obtain maximum benefit from each session.
• Educate patients on home exercise programs and provide instruction on correct body mechanics to support their rehabilitation journey.
• Administer various modalities, such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat or cold therapy, while closely following the guidelines set forth by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Document and monitor patient progress diligently, tracking important metrics such as range of motion and strength improvements.
• Prepare treatment areas, ensuring all equipment and supplies are organized and ready for use during therapy sessions.
• Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care, sharing insights that enhance patient outcomes.
• Provide emotional and motivational support to patients, fostering a positive rehabilitation experience.
• Adhere to ethical standards and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will work with a diverse range of patients, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries, neurological disorders, geriatric conditions, or pediatric treatments. Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current and valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic techniques pertinent to physical therapy.
• Ability to competently assist in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building rapport with patients and facilitating effective collaboration with the healthcare team.
• A compassionate, patient-centered approach is vital, as is the ability to motivate and encourage patients during rehabilitation.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, allowing you to manage time effectively and handle multiple patient cases efficiently.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in a rehabilitation setting or similar clinical environment is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and ongoing professional development in physical therapy practices.

Compensation and Benefits
