Position Overview
The Orthopedic Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) at Mend Force Physical Therapy plays a vital role in delivering high-quality rehabilitation services to patients recovering from orthopedic injuries and surgeries. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to implement personalized therapy plans aimed at enhancing patient mobility, strength, and overall functionality. This role is based in a fast-paced hospital setting in Hopewell, New Jersey, where you will engage directly with a diverse patient population. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing individualized therapy programs designed by the supervising Physical Therapist, focusing on helping patients regain mobility and improve functional capabilities after injuries or surgeries.
- Administer hands-on therapeutic techniques, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, neuromuscular reeducation, and other modalities as directed by the supervising PT to facilitate patient healing.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records, document treatment processes and responses, and track progress in our electronic medical record system to contribute to comprehensive care.
- Educate patients on proper exercise techniques, body mechanics, and the use of home exercise programs to ensure their safety and progress between therapy sessions.
- Collaborate closely with physical therapists, administrative teams, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient flow and provide the best care possible.
- Monitor and assess patient progress regularly, adjusting treatment interventions as necessary, and communicating any significant changes to the supervising physician and family members.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The focus of your work will primarily involve outpatient orthopedic patients recovering from conditions such as fractures, joint replacements, or sports-related injuries. As a PTA at our facility, you will support a variety of patients ranging from post-operative individuals to those seeking rehabilitation for chronic pain. This role is crucial in guiding patients through their recovery journey, helping them achieve their personal health goals.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a related field is required.
- Licensure: A current and valid Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Jersey is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, effective time management, and a collaborative approach to patient care.
- Certifications: CPR certification is required or must be obtained before starting the position.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in an outpatient orthopedic setting is preferred, although new graduates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this role ranges from $60,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
