Work Environment

This position is located onsite at our hospital facility in San Jose, California. You will work alongside licensed Physical Therapists and other healthcare professionals within a collaborative setting designed to optimize patient treatment processes. Our clinic promotes a sustainable work-life balance, with regular work hours from Monday to Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with licensed Physical Therapists to implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each patient, focusing on improving their physical function and mobility.
• Administer therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques under the guidance of the supervising Physical Therapist to help patients regain strength and restore movement.
• Monitor patient progress, diligently documenting and reporting updates to the supervising Physical Therapist for ongoing adjustments to treatment strategies.
• Educate patients and their families on appropriate exercises, injury prevention strategies, and safe movement practices to empower them in their recovery journey.
• Assist in setting up and effectively operating therapeutic equipment, ensuring all protocols for safety and proper use are adhered to at all times.
• Maintain detailed patient records following clinic policies, ensuring accurate and secure documentation of treatment sessions.
• Foster open communication with patients and caregivers to ensure they fully understand the treatment plan and what to expect as they progress in their rehabilitation.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming treatment environment, assisting with daily clinic operations as required.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our Physical Therapist Assistants primarily work with patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and age-related impairments. The role requires a patient-centric approach, as you will interact closely with individuals of varying ages and backgrounds, striving to restore their quality of life and physical independence. You will play a crucial role in supporting patients as they engage in their healing process and actively work towards their rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Physical Therapist Assistant license in California is mandatory.
• A Bachelor’s Degree obtained from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
• Strong foundational knowledge of orthopedic rehabilitation principles and practices is essential.
• Effective communication skills are critical for interacting with patients, families, and fellow team members.

• Current CPR/BLS certification is required to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients.

Preferred Experience

• At least two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant in an outpatient orthopedic therapy clinic is preferred, though new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and clinic management software is advantageous but not mandatory.
