Position Overview
Velocity Physical Therapy in Destin, Florida, is on the lookout for a dedicated and innovative Full-Time Orthopedic Staff Physical Therapist. Work Environment
This full-time position is based onsite at our hospital facility, providing a dynamic work setting that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. You will operate in a well-equipped rehabilitation area designated for physical therapy, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to create a supportive and effective rehabilitation environment. Our schedule runs from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing for a healthy work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct patient evaluations within twenty-four (24) hours or one business day of a physician referral. If delays occur, you will document the reasons clearly in the medical records.
- Develop personalized treatment plans based on evaluations and obtain necessary approvals from referring physicians.
- Deliver therapeutic services in accordance with prescribed treatment plans, ensuring that all interventions align with patient progress and needs.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants in direct patient care, guiding them in clinical practices and ensuring compliance with state regulations.
- Maintain open communication with team members, including nursing staff and supervisors, regarding patient progress, challenges, and future treatment plans.
- Engage in interdisciplinary meetings such as Patient Care Conferences and Utilization Review meetings to collaborate on patient care strategies.
- Participate in training sessions and in-services for staff, sharing knowledge on best practices and emerging therapies.
- Document all treatment evaluations, daily treatment notes, and progress assessments in compliance with the PT Board State Practice Act and payer requirements.
- Educate families and caregivers on patient maintenance programs and discharge protocols to ensure continued recovery post-therapy.
- Facilitate discharge planning by coordinating necessary equipment orders to enhance patients’ mobility and independence, such as braces and walkers.
- Report and troubleshoot any issues with therapy equipment to maintain high operational standards.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The role focuses primarily on outpatient orthopedic patients requiring rehabilitation from injuries and surgeries, including sports injuries, post-operative recovery, and various musculoskeletal conditions. You will work with a diverse patient population, enabling you to employ a range of therapeutic techniques and approaches tailored to individual needs.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program is required.
- Current Florida State Licensure (PTA) is essential for practice.
- Strong communication skills, enabling effective interaction with patients, families, and a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage patient caseloads and documentation effectively.
- A proactive and motivated attitude with a passion for achieving positive patient outcomes.
Preferred Experience
- A minimum of two years of experience in outpatient orthopedic settings, particularly with a focus on exercise, manual therapy, and sports rehabilitation.
- Experience utilizing advanced therapeutic modalities and techniques to enhance patient outcomes.
- Proficiency in patient education and engagement to ensure adherence to treatment plans.
Compensation and Benefits
