Work Environment
This role is stationed onsite at our hospital facility in Destin, situated in a vibrant coastal community known for its beautiful beaches and outdoor recreational activities. As a member of our physical therapy department, you will work in a collaborative environment, participating in interdisciplinary team meetings and department initiatives to enhance patient care and ensure best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations of patients within 24 hours of physician referral, documenting any delays in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Design and implement comprehensive treatment plans for orthopedic patients, seeking approval from referring physicians to ensure timely care delivery.
- Administer therapy services according to physician orders, utilizing evidence-based practices and advanced techniques in exercise, manual therapy, and sports rehabilitation.
- Lead patient education sessions, guiding families and nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training to prepare patients for a successful transition from therapy to independent living.
- Record all evaluations and treatment progress meticulously, adhering to state practice regulations and third-party payer requirements, while ensuring that documentation is current and accurate.
- Assist in supervising Physical Therapy Assistants and engage in the training of restorative aides through in-service education.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other health care professionals to discuss patient progress and any necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and utilization review processes, contributing insights to enhance quality of care.
- Address any concerns related to department equipment promptly to ensure a safe and operational working environment.
Patient Population / Client Focus
The patient population at our Destin facility includes adults and seniors recovering from various orthopedic conditions, including post-operative rehabilitation, sports injuries, pain management, and mobility challenges. You will have the chance to build therapeutic relationships with each patient, fostering trust and encouraging them on their paths to recovery.
Qualifications
- Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) degree from an accredited program, or a Bachelor’s degree with relevant qualifications.
- Possession of a current Florida State Licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
- Strong foundational knowledge of orthopedic rehabilitation practices, demonstrated through prior work experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, allowing effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently, demonstrating strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
Preferred Experience
- Minimum two years of outpatient orthopedic experience, with a preference for those skilled in exercise therapy, manual techniques, and sports rehabilitation.

Compensation and Benefits
