Position Overview
Preferred Therapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated and passionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our committed team in Newark, New Jersey. Work Environment
This position is performed onsite at our hospital facility in Newark, New Jersey. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet patient needs and adapt to clinic operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing customized treatment plans designed to improve patient mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
- Guide patients through a range of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and functional activities, ensuring correct techniques are used to promote healing and pain relief.
- Educate patients on effective body mechanics, exercise regimens, and home exercise programs, facilitating a holistic approach to recovery.
- Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, administer modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound therapy, and heat/cold therapies.
- Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, tracking key improvements such as range of motion, strength gains, and other functional indicators.
- Maintain treatment areas by ensuring they are clean, organized, and stocked with appropriate equipment and supplies prior to therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that includes Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement, creating a motivating environment that helps patients feel empowered throughout their rehabilitation journey.
- Adhere to strict ethical and professional standards, ensuring the confidentiality and rights of all patients are respected.
Patient Population / Client Focus
You will work with a diverse patient population, including individuals in various stages of recovery from orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, and postoperative rehabilitation. This role requires you to tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each patient, ensuring that they feel supported and understood.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, alongside successful completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- A valid state license or certification to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and therapeutic interventions associated with physical therapy.
- Demonstrated proficiency in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop rapport with patients and effectively collaborate with healthcare teams.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
